CBD oil 20%, 30% or 40%: which one to choose

When you open our CBD oils section you see numbers straight away: 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%. That is the first thing to understand when comparing, because two bottles that look the same can contain four times more CBD than each other.

1. What the percentage means

The percentage tells you how much CBD is in the oil. A 10 ml bottle at 20% contains about 2,000 mg of CBD; the same bottle at 30% contains about 3,000 mg, and at 40%, about 4,000 mg. The higher the percentage, the more CBD in each drop.

  • 10% (about 1,000 mg in 10 ml): the mildest strength.
  • 20% (about 2,000 mg): a middle ground, a common place to start.
  • 30% (about 3,000 mg): for those who already know CBD oil.
  • 40% (about 4,000 mg): our highest strength.

2. Higher is not always better

A stronger oil is not "better", it just has more CBD per drop. That is why it costs more, but it also lasts longer. If it is your first oil, it is usual to start with a low or medium strength and always follow the manufacturer's directions on the pack.

3. Full spectrum or isolate

Besides the percentage, check the type of extract:

  • Full spectrum: keeps other natural hemp compounds, such as other cannabinoids and terpenes, with THC below the legal limit. It tastes more "of the plant".
  • Isolate: purified CBD only, without the other compounds. More neutral taste.

4. The carrier oil: MCT, olive or hemp

CBD is dissolved in a carrier oil. MCT (fractionated coconut oil) is light and almost tasteless; hemp seed oil and olive oil are also used. It does not change the amount of CBD, but it does change texture and taste.

5. How to store it

Keep it tightly closed, somewhere cool and out of direct light. The dark glass bottle and dropper are designed for that.
